openUBMC 25.03 Release: Starting a New Journey of Open Source

Elevate your open source capabilities with the latest openUBMC solution! We are excited to introduce openUBMC 25.03, a release built to offer you greater quality and flexibility. Discover a suite of new innovations in this first annual release for your baseboard management controller (BMC) jobs.

1.1 Features of the Release: A Major Overhaul

1.1.1 Northbound Interface Ecosystem

• Security enhancements: The upgraded security framework supports customization of password and username policies, and comes with a new foundational module for certificate management.
• O&M optimizations: Configuration import and export are standardized. Factory reset now preserves user data. The MCU/VRD firmware upgrade architecture has been refactored to support the standard HPM package format.

1.1.2 Southbound Component Extension

• Management enhancements: Speed adjustment policies and loading of multiple SML libraries are now supported.
• Component compatibility: SP322D/SP323D NICs and NVMe-MI v1.7 linkspeed query are now supported.

1.1.3 Development Experience Optimization

• Tooling upgrades: Local debugging and model check based on bingo are supported, and the BMC Studio is open source.
• Function expansion: CSR configuration check and full model check are supported.
